Poor Debut for Flash

I didn't see the game last night as I was late at work, but I did catch the last inning on my drive home. What I heard was a bit disturbing. Tom "Flash" Gordon gave up one run on one hit but had FOUR baserunners. Not exactly a solid outing for our shaky closer.

Here is his line: 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 1 SO, 24 pitches.

On the positive side, Billy Wagner blew a save last night for the Mets so we have that going for us.

In other news, Jimmy Rollins did not keep the fans in suspense long...extending his hit streak to 38 games with a first inning knock. I am excited that Rollins has continued the streak...gives us something very tangible to cheer for. As to those people who get all righteous about records, etc., chill out a little and enjoy the ride. What Rollins has accomplished is great, no matter whether it was in one season or two. Yes, maybe it is harder to do it with the wear and tear of a season weighing you down but notice that no one has done it with such a long break between games. To me that means something too.
